Any good holiday places?

Where are good places to visit for a different family holiday?

  • My family and I are looking to visit somewhere different for our family holiday in April 2011. Me and my mum have grown tired of the Spanish "costas" and I am lobbying the family for a holiday to a totally different culture. The problem is, my Dad is a bit of a xenophobe and stereotypes everything, hence persuading him is difficult. I am 15, my younger sister is 13 and my parents are in their mid 40's. Our budget is around £2000, but to go somewhere worthwile to me, I have pledged to make up the financial difference to £3000. I'd particularly like to go to somewhere historical, not swarming with tourists, with some interesting geography and a totally different culture. My family want beaches and resort hotels. If anyone has any ideas, they would be much appreciated.
