What are the best country's for a gap year?

Gap year, several countrys, no paided work out there, cost?

• World "tour" or so to speak for a year ..... how much do u think it would cost, if u dont go throgh any companys that set stuff up for you .. buying tickets on the go etc....any random averages you can come up with?? ( GBP only please)

  gapyear.com is a great place to ask that. The website is down at the moment - but check it again and go on the messageboard. It really depends where you're going, and how you're willing to live. Camping? Hostels? Couchsurfing? Hotels? Budget foods? Or Restaurants? Europe/North America/Australia is a lot more expensive than South East Asia or South America would be. Unless you're going to a country that is quite hard to travel around independantly (Sub-saharan Africa/ Borneo etc etc) - FORGET about companies. You'll save a lot of money doing in on your own. Just do a lot of research. Ugh i don't know - i haven't even gone yet!!! Lol. But i've planned a lot. Go check out that site.
