Hottest place in North America?

Where is the best place in North America to see northern lights?

  • I'm looking for a place in North America to go and see the Northern Lights, but absolutely beautiful Northern lights. I heard Fairbanks, Alaska is decent, as well as Aurora Borealis.. Also what are the chances of seeing them? Thanks!

  • Answer:

The further north you go, the better your chances. However, you need to go in the winter because it is too light out at night in the far north to see them in the summer. We do see them frequently here in Fairbanks and have regular flights up from the lower 48 states all year. BTW- Aurora Borealis is another name for the northern lights, not a place.

Aurora Borealis is the northern lights, not a place. Fairbanks does sound like a good spot, though

The farther north you are the better your chances. BTW;Aurora Borealis is the scientific name for the northern lights.

the absolute best place is going to be far north alaska. to be more specific, chena hot springs in the winter. they are natural hot springs and so you can swim 24 hours a day. yes, it's freezing on the way to the spring (walking distance from the hotel) but so worth it!!! and they have courtesy calls every night to wake you when the northern lights show up. the show is so spectacular that thousands of asians go there every year because they believe making a baby under the northern lights (i pray it's in their hotel room) will bring health to their future children. anywho, check out chenahotsprings.com

Any where in the far north. Pick a time when there will be a lot of solar activity. That is what causes the Aurora Borealis, solar wind hitting the Ionosphere of the earth.
