    I like the Bay Area, CA (San Francisco/Oakland/San Jose) because: 1) Nice weather (2 days from Thanksgiving and it's 70 deg. and sunny outside). More of a wet season/dry season instead of summer/fall/winter/spring. Kind of boring sometimes but I lived in the Midwest and this weather beats it. 2) Diversity (lots of different kinds of people, food, etc) 3) Drive 45 minutes one direction to the beach and/or redwood forests, 3 hours opposite direction to the mountains for hiking/skiing/gambling. 4) Beautiful scenery. Sure the rent is 2-3 times higher here and gas costs $3.75/gallon. Bigger pay helps offset some of it but at least you don't have to spend $400/month heating your house (or a/c during summer) each month.

I love where I live!! Within walking distance to the left is a huge wildlife reserve with great river views and within walking distance to the right is a gorgeous dog park I can take my Boston terrier.
