What are cheap family vacations?

What was your fave vacation/What are nice vacations like (exotic)?

  • I've never been on vacation before. I've went to Chicago and all that... the farthest I've been to is Montreal. By the way please don't say I'm complaining.. i just really love looking at pictures of scenery like in thailand or bahamas, bora bora, hong kong, galapagos, spain, brazil, etc. It's so beautiful to me and maybe one day when i'm making enough money I can go on those vacations I've always wondered what it's like and I really enjoy traveling because I love learning about cultures, new food and i'm always down to try new/crazy things?

    My very favorite holiday was a 4 week overland camping safari through Kenya and Tanzania. We camped in pup tents and had Masai warriors sleep outside our tents to guard us. A couple of nights we stayed in campsites in fenced compounds. The animals came right up to the fence. In the Serengeti you have to use the buddy system if you go to the bathroom. We saw hyena's watching us from the bush. Creepy, but amazing. When you go to the game parks, especially the Masai Mara and the Serengeti, it's right out of National Geographic. We were lucky to see the migration of the wildebeest and zebra. Incredible. 2 million wildebeest and 1/2 million zebra. It's a sight I will never forget, and one of the most memorable days of my life. Other faves are China, Vietnam and Egypt. The South Pacific is beautiful too.

** Every year I spend my Summer/Fall in Europe. Usually Northern Europe/The Baltic~ (UK, France, Belgium, Germany, Holland, Estonia & Scandinavia) OR I go South to The Med.~ (Italy, Greece etc.) I lived in Japan for a few years. Very Interesting place! A word of "warning" to you? Stay away from Undeveloped ~ Dangerous Countries! They may be "exotic" to some, but can be full of REGRET! Some African Countries may be "New & Crazy" for some. I would NOT ever go to many places there. Ditto Mexico! If you can't even drink the local water, why should I travel there? Go to "Civilized" countries for excitement! That's quite enough Culture for me. Good Luck~ Have Fun~ Be Safe!

I spent some time in Cape Town in South Africa, that would be a favourite. I think it could count as exotic.
