How to not get homesick at sleepaway camp?

I'm really scared of going to sleepaway camp?

  • I'm going to camp in a few days, and I'm really really scared. It's 3 weeks long, sleepaway. I've been to camp, but it was all-girls and only 2 weeks. One of my friends is also going to this camp. I wanted to go so badly and now I really don't want to. In some ways, I do though.. I get very worried at times about it and almost cry.. I'm just emotional because I know how expensive it was and I'm so upset about it! Please help me, what should I do? I'm afraid to tell my mom. I'm sure she would understand but inside she would be thinking about how expensive it was. I feel like I have to go and should go. Please don't be negative..

  • Answer:

Don't worry! Its okay to be homesick. You'll be with your friend and make sure you take a mobile( even if your camp doesn't let you ;)) Do tell your mom though. Bring a teddy as well :)

Don't worry about it! Listen, I go to camp a lot, and I was TERRIFIED my first time. I'm very attached to my home and parents, and I was convinced I was going to hate it. But I had a GREAT time, it was SUPER fun! Three weeks is going to feel like 2 days. My advice: Be SUPER nice to everyone, especially the kid who is left out. This way no one will have any reason to dislike you! But be yourself and don't be shy. You'll have fun! (Secret tip: BEFRIEND THE COUNSELOR. They can give you stuff. And in the end of my camp, my best friend was my counselor.)
