What does make you prefer NoVa to any other place in America?

I want to leave North America. Where should I go?

  • I do not have much money and will need a place where I can get a job. I speak a little Spanish but not enough to get by on. I am not looking for a luxurious lifestyle but a culture change. I want to spend about $600 USD a month on rent and will need to make enough money to eat, get around and enjoy my life. I would also prefer an area that is less than 20 miles or so from clean beaches and little tourism. Any suggestions?

  • Answer:

$600 per month won't go far in many places. It's also illegal for you to work in another country without getting a visa that permits you to live and work there before you go. You might look at places like Belize, Nicaragua, Thailand or the Philippines, but you would have a lot of work to do to make something like this happen.

Hi there, in Nicaragua you will be able to live on $ 600.00/month (I spent 4 months in Nicaragua last year), however, you most likely will not get a working permit. Also, Nicaragua is a very poor country and there are very few jobs. Any job you might be able to pick up (there are ways to find some jobs without having papers), will pay you very little. Most Nicaraguenses make less than $ 150.00/month. You will have the same problem with most countries (to get a working permit). If you are a professional you could of course try to get a job with an American country overseas, however, that's not easy to get either. Your best bet is to start some online business which will make you the kind of money you need to live in another country. Good luck.

You're going to have a hard time finding a place to go that will allow you to work, legally that is. If you can somehow work out that issue go to Nicaragua, its dirt cheap, great country, beautiful clean beaches and tourism still in its infancy. Don't worry about the spanish, with total immersion you'll be speaking it fluently in a matter of weeks :)
