Does anyone know what the difference is between the National Geographic Adventure and Traveler magazines?

Does anyone know what the difference is between the National Geographic Adventure and Traveler magazines?

• I am looking to give one of these as a gift but I gave one of them last year as a gift and was told that all of the places they advertise are in other countries (other then Mexico or the US) and they were pretty much just full of ads. I can't remember which of the two it was though. I'd be giving them to my mom and grandfather who like to hike and rock and fossil and arowhead hunt. Which would be best for them? My grandfather retired in Mexico and my mom in Arizona but they travel the lower states and Mexico often. I'd like to find something with just the Untied States and Mexico featured if possible. Suggestions for other good magazines are appreciated. I am already considering Arizona Highways but are there other good ones for their specific hobby?

  I subscribe to them both and i've got the last issues of each in front of me. The Traveler magazine is 188 pages and covers general holidays around the world and looking in this issue i can't find any features on anywhere in the US.The reading doesn't seem to get in the way of the ads until about page 22 & there are plenty more further in The Adventure magazine is 138 pages and as the name implies seems to cover more energetic pursuits eg. hiking and does have some US features.Same here again,the serious reading doesn't start until page 19 and further in about 10 pages are classified ads from tour companies who want to provide your every adventure need in the US and the world Looking at them theres a lot more reading in the Traveller magazine but it sounds like the Adventure magazine is what your parents are after I get them both because they only cost about A$4.50 each including postage from Florida whereas if i wait for them to hit the newstands over here in Australia they cost about A$11 each and arrive about two weeks later so i think they're extremely good value All the best
