Where should I go travelling: Morocco or Romania?

  • 16 year old girl from the UK. I love history and old buildings etc, and I love travelling and learning about other cultures. I really want to start planning some travelling to do over a summer but I can't decide which place is better. Where's better in your opinion to explore for a few weeks, Morocco or Romania?

    Romania. First of all you are 16 and a girl. In Romania nobody cares about you, you can move freely (even by yourself without a guide). In Romania you can basically go by yourself wherever you want to go without fear of anything. People help in case of trouble, they will regard you as a guest, they speak english (the young). You can go for example to the Maramures area, and Bucovina (prince Charles has a house there and he loves the place). Romania is wild and untamed in the center, you can go and visit areas you will not see anywhere else in the world and the best thing is it is safe and people are kind and helpful. Morocco is great to visit but no place for a 16 YO girl.

I've never been to Romania, but I've been to Morocco twice, and it was one of the most amazing countries I've ever visited. Lovely climate, culture, wildlife, everything was incredible. Some highlights were: markets in Marrakesh trekking in the Atlas mountains riding camels in the desert going through the old-city of Marrakesh in a horse-and-carriage You should definitely go to Morocco for a couple of weeks, but if you go in the middle of summer, remember that it will be insanely hot... the best time to go is April - June. Look up some landmarks in Morocco, and buy a guidebook, and it will be an amazing holiday. Hope that helped :) have fun wherever you go

I am Romanian. I have never been to Morocco. I suspect that I would have chosen Morocco if I were in your place. It seems to be more exotic and interesting. But why do you compare Morocco and Romania? They are very different cultures. It is true that Romania is one of the most underdeveloped EU country, a sort of Cuba of Europe...However it is still a European country! (rogue taxi drivers, misinformation, theft etc.) Concerning your age and sex I advice you to travel in any country with another persons. You are vulnerable to cheaters and rapists.
