What's the best way to get a great travel deal?

• What I've always done goes something like this: Months ahead of scheduled vacation, I check around on all the major travel sites to get an idea of what I'll be paying. Then I check over and over again, changing little details here and there such as length of stay, arrival/departure date and so forth. After I've convinced myself that I can get a better deal by waiting a week or two, I go through it all over again and again. Is there some sort of resource that puts rates and stuff on a calendar if you're looking for flight & hotel packages? I've had some awesome travel deals, but I just feel like I'm beating myself over the head with all the checking and rechecking. Thanks

  it takes a lot of work searching the net it sounds as if what you are doing is a great way. I do the same, but try to see how many open vacancies are available, if few, prices will not drop, if lots, then I wait till the last minute.
