Good places to go on holiday in Europe?

  • I live in the UK and I'm going on holiday for my first timee! I'm looking for good places in Spain, Portugal, Canary Islands etc.. Thanks! Xx

Madeira is one of my favourite places but don't be tempted by the lovely pictures because it won't be your sort of place - no sandy beaches. You have to catch (an expensive) ferry to a nearby island of Porto Santo at 8.0 a.m. to spend a day on a sandy beach.

I would chose Madeira. These islands, because of their privileged geographical position and mountainous relief, have a surprisingly mild climate. Very mild average temperatures, 22ºC in the summer and 16ºC in the winter, and a moderate level of humidity, confer upon these islands exceptional subtropical features. The seawater temperature is also very mild, because of the influence of the warm Gulf current, presenting averages of 22ºC in the summer and 18º in the winter.
