What is there to do in Minnesota that is not super expensive?

What is Minnesota like?

• Hey, I'm from Washington. My parents can't afford a "big trip" next Summer, so we tried to find a low price place with fun things to do. I thought of Minnesota, because of Valley Fair and Mall of America and stuff. Is the weather nice there? Traffic? Any other info would be very nice, such as other attractions. THANKS!! ps: is it expensive to go, or not?

  Minnesota's great! Mall of America has so many different places to shop as well as an indoor amusement park (although you probably already know that). Getting there is VERY easy because of the "new" Light Rail. It goes from downtown Minneapolis all the way to the airport (and makes frequent stops at many places of interest). Fairs for the train are easy to get and cheap as well. Right by Mall of America and across the highway from the airport is Water park of America. This is a hotel/water park with the largest water slide in the U.S (sounds fun, huh?) Rooms are nice (I've stayed there for birthday parties) and the water park is SO much fun! Valley Fair might be a little harder to get to.. It's all the way out in Shakopee (about a 30-45 min drive depending on traffic) and tickets can get expensive, however it's pretty worth it! Traffic usually isn't that bad unless it's snowing but obviously you won't run into that problem. If you come in August you could experience the State Fair, which is a crime to miss and trying spaghetti on a stick might just be awesome. We're called "Land of 10,000 Lakes for a reason. Swimming is great in some of the main lakes and there are hundreds of bike paths as well. Have Fun!
