How did you spend your best weekend?

Where is the best place in Rhode Island to spend a weekend near the beach, good restaurants and affordable?

  • My girlfriend and I are looking to spend a weekend in Rhode Island towards the end of July or beginning of August. We are going to drive there from Ct. and are looking for a nice hotel to stay in that is reasonably priced near a nice beach, and has good restaurants and a good nightlife. I've searched around but don't know much about Rhode Island to make an informed decision so any advice you can offer us would be great!

The hotels will be less money than Newport.

Affordable? That disqualifies Newport, the only place in RI worth visiting.

Newport is best i believe ! its pretty close to the beach and its really a place you can relax and hear the ocean. the hotels there are good also. theres also a lot of restarunts there and im not so sure about the nightlife...but i do know that newport can be a bit expensive. hope i helped.

Newport can be nice, if expensive is what you are looking for. Block Island is really nice, if you dont mind taking a ferry from Point Judith for a night.... Its a small quaint island with nightlife, lots of affordable places to stay and restaurants to enjoy.

Well, RI doesn't have much of a nightlife outside of college age clubs in Providence. All the beaches from Narragansett to Westerly are nice. Better restaurants in the Narragansett area. Nicer hotels too. There's always Newport.
