Which would be better Portland,or Seattle or cali?

How is life in Seattle? Do you prefer it to other cities like Atl, Ny, Chicago, Miami, Cali?

• Is it slightly better than other cities like Atl, Ny, LA, Miami, Tx, Chicago? I'm moving to Seattle from Atlanta. I have no idea how the opportunities, life, jobs, people are in Seattle. Do you think it's better to live there? I heard it's cold and rainy. Does that affect the living ? How are the work environment, economy and all? All answers will be appreciated.

  I'd RUN from Atlanta to Seattle if I was you. Seattle is a 1000 x better than Atlanta!!! But in my opinion, anyplace would be better than Atlanta. The winter weather can be coolish and rainy, it rarely snows (probably snows more in Atlanta), rarely freezes. However you don't have to drive far to find snow in the winter. Skiing is located about 50 miles east of Seattle just off I90. Seattle is surrounded by water (close proximity) and mountains (50+ miles out) on all sides. The reason is rains so much is that predominate weather pattern is from the south Pacific, called the pineapple express. This moist warm air hits the mountains to the west of Seattle, which squeezes out the moisture. Seattle has all types of people. The predominate ethnisity is Asian. It's a liberal and well educated city. Cost of living is on the high side. Traffic sucks, because of all the water, bridges are the bottlenecks. Thing is the summers will be fantastic for you. Seattle summers are mild with relatively lower humidity, despite all the water. No idea what the current job market is like, but I assume it's tough just like everywhere else. The predominate employers are Microsoft (and it's support structure / spin off businesses) and Boeing. Like any large city there are all sorts of opportunities.
