Where can I go for a great, cheap, weekend getaway?

I live in Kentucky. I am in DESPERATE need of a weekend getaway, but I do not have big funds where can I go?

  • I would like to go someplace to simply relax and not have any time restraints, and did I say my funding is low? Where can I go have a great time and not have to sell my kidney?

    Well, if you want to go out of the state I would check travelocity for the last minute deals. For the most part they have good packages including airfare and hotel stay for a pretty low price. Also most of their packages are usually for weekend getaways at the last minute. I would say it is worth looking into. You could probably go to Chicago for around $200, and that includes airfare, and hotel.

Check out the state parks...Cumberland Falls...they have a lodge, rent a room...very relaxing.....

I am not sure what part of KY you are from. I am originally from Southern IL which is less than 45 minutes from the KY border and there are beautiful places. You have the quiet getaways, lakes, wineries, and awesome parks, hiking... it has a lot to offer. Check out this site. http://www.discoversil.com/

Breaks Interstate Park is a nice place, and virtually free if you camp. You can get a shady spot, and it won't be too hot. You could take food, or if you have a little money, eat at the lodge. It's at the Virginia border, if you're on that side of the state. Otherwise, it's up to you if you want to spend the gas driving. Or you could bike over, which is what I did before.

Kentucky State Parks are some of the best state parks in the country.
