How does someone move from the UK and settle in the USA?

    You first need a job. There are a number of USA companies (like Disney World) that offer jobs for international visitors: Search "international exchange programs" and you should find many links. Also check websites for hotel chains like Hilton and Marriott. The company will arrange for your work visa and pay you enough (for working) to live on for a while. It will give you time to find permanent employment. Also check with USA companies with offices in the UK and UK companies with offices in the USA. You may be able to apply for a job in the USA without leaving home. UK citizens qualify for the "visa waiver program" so you can travel to the US for interviews, if necessary. Get a New York Times or other newspaper, and find a place to rent. You will need to make sure you have somewhere to live. Make sure you have a job lined up too, or you could wind up one of just a million homeless people. Call the INS, and apply for a work visa.

Buy a ticket and go. You are supposed to come back just don't. If you stay there for enough time (I've no idea you'll have to check) you can become a permanent resident. That would be the easiest way. If your friend or whoever wants to go to U.S.A, when there are about a million programs that allow you to go and can't figure it out for himself, then I'm sorry but I doubt that they would want an emigrant such as that (you know the kind that's stupid). I can't believe that this is being asked again and again it is soooooo easy to emigrate there! (Providing you have a British passport that is)
