How can I get a good deal at a luxury resort?

• Hi, I am spending dates Dec. 27-30 in Ft. Lauderdale. I originally booked the Pelican Grand Beach Resort on Ft Lauderdale Beach for 788.00 CAD, Witch bothered me because I knew I was paying approx 263 dollars a night witch just bothered me..... As that is more than my one-way flight to orlando! ( if you want to know why I booked a one-way flight please read another one of my questions) So I got up one morning went on Hotwire, and took a dive with the Hotwire Hot Rate. I dont usually take those risks ( not knowing exactly what hotel youre staying at ). But at 464.00 total for a 4 star " Ft Lauderdale Beach Area" hotel. I figured it is way better as I am paying approx. 350.00 less. So I entered my personal info and went for the dive. Then, Came up Westin Hotel Beach Resort and Spa. I figured cause it was a Westin I got a good deal, but because I was never in that area, I am not really sure if i got some bang for my buck. So you guys tell me, did I get a good deal?????? Also, is the westin hotel beach resort and spa considered a fancy, luxury hotel???

  id say it was fare it is a 4 star and right on the beach.i stayed in the holiday inn a few yrs ago and it was across the street from the beach and it was a hundred and something a night.i live in the west coast of florida and stayed down there two nights.
