• Anyone know about Spokane Washington? I'm from New Zealand and Spokane will be a future goal of mine to move there on a one year visa. What are amenities like? Say transportation, housing, public places such as hospitals, doctors, the works? What about the climate? When are the best time/s to come? What is the average weather like, as goes for jobs. Is there much work? Is the wage good? What would be a realistic income to get per week on a normal 40 hour working week. Are there any good sights to see, and what should I be aware of? Also, are there any strongly enforced laws I should know about? Any other comments would be appreciated as well. I also heard that Spokane WA is part of the witness protection program? Or is there better cities roughly within Seattle - Spokane? Cheers

  Have no idea why someone from New Zealand would consider moving to Spokane. It does NOT rain a lot. It is a high desert climate like Denver. It's east of the Cascade Mountains. The area west of the cascade is the rain forest that gets a lot of rain. It is an inexpensive place to live. There are several hospitals but besides that there is no much industy. It has a VERY VERY small downtown area that is fairly hip. There are a few good restaurants. A great bookstore and that's about it. Anything outside the downtown area is pretty non-descript, including the university area. It is a very anglo area. People are born in the community and stay until they die. Not a lot of people move in or out. There are almost no cities between Seattle and Spokane = there is a gigantic mountain in the middle.
