Which state is the better place to live? California, Oregon, Colorado, Texas, Florida, New Hampshire?
-
I am interested in moving to one of the states I have listed (California, Oregon, Colorado, Texas, Florida, New Hampshire) so I was wondering which is the best place to live? (I currently live in Texas) Please rate them based on these criteria; low crime, best scenery, best weather, best economy/job opportunities, best nature opportunities, and best place to raise a family. Try to find the best balance of all of these criteria. Thanks in advance for your input [:

California Pros: amazing weather all the time awesome beaches endless amount of attractions and things to do (disneyland, water sports, skiing, nature parks, six flags, sea world, etc.) good shopping lots of diversity and different people more laid-back atmosphere than other areas of the country fun nightlife Cons: super expensive high gas prices frequent wildfires landslides/mudslides (if you live on the coast) earthquakes depends which city you're in, but sometimes high rates of crime and bad public school systems
chilly
Here are my votes: #1: Colorado #2: Oregon #3: New Hampshire #4: Texas (Austin, San Antonio or hill country only!!) #5: California: some parts are OK, others are a total dump. Would recommend San Diego, South Lake Tahoe, Monterrey, Carmel, Santa Barbara #6 Florida: OK

Well, since no one has really offered any viable feedback about NH here's some insight. NH is statistically, is one of the the better choices in terms of: * Low crime * Best place to raise a family * Best economy NH has a very low unemployment rate, somewhere between 3 and 4% recently. NH ranks highly in terms of healthiest people, especially with its low obesity index. Rockingham County in NH has been named one of the safest mid size metropolitan areas in the USA, as well being regarded overall as one of the safest states. The school systems, both public and private rank fairly well, as does most of the Northeast. The offers probably the most beautiful fall scenery (aside from Vermont) in any place of the country. Hiking, skiing and numerous outdoor sports are popular thanks to a nice stretch of mountains in the northern parts of NH. The coast is fairly small, but being a small state, the drive isn't that bad to the beach from any area, really. NH has a few quirky amenities, too. No sales tax, no requirement for car insurance, or seat belts/helmets for those over 18. Though, with every state you have some flaws. With NH, the weather and the cost of living is probably worst. While NH is clearly not the most expensive state to live in, it is probably around the 10th or so most costly state out of all 50, so obviously the lack of sales tax is made up for some where down the line living there. The weather is pretty unforgiving, too. Winters are generally cold and snowy and the spring can be cool and rainy as well. Their best seasons are easily summer and fall. Generally summers are mild and comfortable, but can get hot and humid briefly. The fall tends to be brisk, but decent enough to enjoy the outdoors until the snow starts becoming frequent. All in all, I'm not trying to sell you on NH, all the places listed are quite nice and have their pros and cons as well. However, NH is definitely worth a look based on your criteria and statistically it ranks pretty well on overall best states to live.

California...........
I believe job opportunities and economy in CA are awful now. My favorite state is Colorado... gorgeous, but job opportunities are mediocre now. Texas is listed on all the "best places to live " articles.
