Has anyone moved from the UK to France recently?

Has anyone moved to US from the UK?

  • Firstly, I know you can't just up and leave from the UK to the States, I know it's a lengthy and difficult process. I'm a new graduate to Psychology and I'm currently gaining experience in my line of work. I'm really intrigued by the idea of moving to America, I would love to broaden my mind, my opportunities and my experiences, I really want to live there and stay there, I want my children to be brought up there and have the life that the US has to offer. I have one child at the moment. I just wanted to hear some experiences of people who've moved from the UK to the US, how easy or hard was it? What kind of work do you do? Is the cost of living and quality of life good? Do you miss the UK?

  • Answer:

I'm sure people have done it. But not as psychologists - there are plenty of Master's and PhD's who can't find work. UK citizens cannot easily move to the US. You need an employer to get you a work visa, which isn't going to happen for a psych grad. Only possibility would be if you work for a UK employer that has an office in the US [not psych, obviously]; you might be able to transfer. But UK citizens have a long wait for visas.
