A FEW qUESTIONS ABOUT MONTAUK, LONG ISLAND?

I'm thinking about taking the long trip out there this summer via Long Island Railroad. I was wondering how far is the beach from the train station? Is there a fee to enter the beach? Are there places near the beach where you can buy food/snacks? Does Montauk have a boardwalk or just a beach? Thanks for your help.

Are you just going for the day? There are a bunch of beaches. Nothing is incredibly far, but walking everywhere might take some time. Loads of restaurants in the Village and along the beaches. Maybe if you have one, bring a bicycle with you? (You might need a bicycle permit for the train). It's like a 3 hour train ride each way. Maybe you want to make it an overnight thing simply because of the travel time and lack of train service. It's definitely worth the trip if you can make it.
