Answer:
I dont like rides much but MOG florida rocked. There's Miami for the beaches loads of shopping opportunities (and cheap!!) and you get a great tan. The amusement parks are quite fun too considering i'm scared of rollercoasters and didnt go on many rides. Florida has a bit of everything really.

First off, the USA is HUGE! Remember this is one of he largest countries in the world. It spans 4 different timezones so you might get an array of different answers depending on where each person lives and where they have been. As for LA, if you love the sun sea and sand, music, and celebrities, it sounds like you already have an idea of what you want to check out in LA. I have never been to LA (aside from the airport). But most Americans no matter where they grew up, that's the image that they get about LA and Southern California in general. As for Nashville, you are confusing Texas with Tennessee. Nashville is in Tennessee. I have never been there so I can't tell you much about it. No on to Florida, there is more to Florida then just rides, but by your logic then California would also be pointless because that state also has rides and amusement parks, so do a lot of other states in the US. Florida is in a tropical climate, it has clear water beaches, plenty of places to shop, you are bound to find a lot of live music and good times. That's my experience with Florida. I have been to NY, there's more to that place than just shopping to. This is also coming from a person that doesn't really shop as a hobby. NY has a great broadway theatre production, there's times square. NY is known for it's little Italy section with Italian cuisine restaraunts. There is a lot going on in NY. Basically from what I see out of your comments here, I kind of get the impression that you have never been to the US before, which is fine, but from what I see you are in love with Hollywood because of what you've heard about it, but have no real desire to go to Florida because you think the only thing Florida has to offer are rides. Hence you are making generalizations about places that you have never been to, and in doing so you never know if you might be missing out on something you might really enjoy, or you might go and see what LA is really like in person, then realize in a day or 2 that it's not all like what you envisioned it to be. My first suggestion before deciding on where you want to go is to approach visiting USA with an open mind and realize that there is a chance that you'll discover activities, places and things to do that you probably haven't even thought of yet. I bet you would tell me the same thing about London for example right if I told you that I didn't drink alcohol (which I actually do, occasionally), and that I was ruling out London because I don't want to be hanging around a pub all day.

Nashville is in Tennessee not Texas. Hollywood isnt going to be what you think. I lived near Hollywood Hollywood is the generic term for the Entertainment industry now. It was the entertainment capital back in the 40's 50's but studios are all over the LA area . About all thats left in Hollywood is the sidewalk with the stars, and the Chinese Theater w/ footprints of the stars. You'll find plenty to do in LA and in July the beaches are packed. That area around Pensacola, is beautiful, like the other post said. However, LA has lots of other things exciting to do. Its a huge huge city. LA metro is about 80 miles long and wide. ( mile is like a kilometer --kinda) You could go to the valley and visit Universal Studios and see how movies are made. Take the studios tour not the amusement park.

You want sun, sea, sand shopping and celebrity with possibly a little music thrown in. The West Coast of the USA would be ideal for you. Los Angeles is the second biggest city in the USA and very busy and can be confusing. Hollywood Boulevard is the place where all the stars since movies began have had their names, hand prints and sometimes footprints in the concrete of the sidewalk. I was there in May and saw the parade for the premier of the film UP. From that area you can see the famous Hollywood sign too. Universal Studios offer an excellent studio tour and you can see the sets of both historic and recent movies. I would advise you have a couple of days in LA and then move on. I like Route One going North toward San Francisco. For my money, San Fran' is the nicest city in the USA and on the way you can visit numerous beaches and see lots of great scenery. You should vist Hearst Castle at San Simeon. This was the home of newspaper magnate William Randolph Hearst and the tour of his home will bring you into the lives of some of the most famous movie stars and politicians of the twentieth century. You will get to walk on a tiled floor inlaid with real gold in the indoor swimming pool. At Carmel, Clint Eastwood was once the mayor you will find great shopping and beaches. Monterey, once famous as a fish canning town, is now a tourist shopping mecca. I couldn't get the boss out of the half price jewellery shop. San Francisco is a fantastic place. Look it up on the net and you will see for yourself. Fantastic shopping, Alcatraz and Lombard Street. Fly into LA and out of San Fran' or the other way round. Hire a car and pre book your hotels online. Can I come too?

The weather will be hot in most of America in July, and certainly in all of the places you list - even New York. Wherever you go try to choose hotels with a nice pool. Also pack lightweight, light-color, all-cotton clothing. For Florida sun & sea but NOT theme parks try the northwestern part of the state just east of Pensacola: http://www.visitpensacolabeach.com/ http://www.emeraldcoast.com/ http://www.destinfwb.com/ Pensacola is 4 hours by car from New Orleans: http://frenchquarter.com/ http://www.frenchquarterhotels.com/ http://www.louisianataxfree.com/ http://www.magazinestreet.com/ http://www.crt.state.la.us/culturaldistricts/DistrictMaps.aspx For music clubs in New Orleans, go to www.bestofneworleans.com and click on Music then Listings or to www.offbeat.com and click on Listings, then Music. Hope you have a great trip, wherever you go!

I have lived in both California and Florida and driven through the states in between. I have never been to Nashville, Tennessee, so I cannot comment on it, but I would not waste my vacation on Texas. In terms of rides, California and Florida have many duplicates - they both have a lot of theme parks, so I wouldn't let that sell you on one or the other. If you're looking for sand and stars in Florida, check out South Beach - it's an island off Miami and adjacent to Star Island, where many celebrities live. You might also check out the Florida Keys for some amazing beaches. In California, I would recommend San Diego for beaches - just beware that the Pacific is not really very warm water. Places like Laguna Beach are nice but highly overrated. You are likely to see movie stars anywhere in Hollywood/Beverly Hills. Also Universal Studios is a good place. You can even get free tickets to be in a studio audience for shows like the Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien and the Jay Leno Show. For glitz and glamor (and shopping), Las Vegas, Nevada is only a few hours away as well. In northern California, San Francisco is more of a European-style city and the shopping and such is sophisticated, but with a zany San Francisco flair. Depending on the timing, there are usually big jazz festivals in San Francisco and Sacramento, and Monterey if that's the sort of music you like. By "Cabo," I'm guessing you mean Cabo San Lucas, which is actually in Mexico.

First, never been to LA so can't tell you whether or not to go there. Nashville is in Tennessee not Texas. I found Nashville boring, but if you like the Grand Ole Opry sort of thing then you should go. Don't go to Texas, waste of time and money in my opinion. I would not rule out Florida at all just because you think it's all about theme parks! The majority of the theme parks are located in the Orlando area, but Orlando isn't the whole state of Florida!! If you want to go to the beach and get a beautiful tan then go to one of the many beaches in Florida. I recommend Daytona Beach :) Florida is the vacation desitiny of the world not just because it has theme parks, but because it offers a variety of things to do for all types of people.
