What makes CALIFORNIA so much better than all of Pennslyvania?

If my husbands stationed in California, will that makes us california residents?

  • I'm really confused on this. If he's stationed there I know it doesn't necessarily mean he's a resident there, but if we both live there and go to school there and all that, will it make us residents? Will I have to change my license from a Nevada license to a California one, change our insurance, etc etc. All answers will be appreciated. (:

    Not automatically. You have to officially change your state of residence and that includes all the things you mention (driving license, etc.) plus more. Check with the legal office for your husband's unit for options and assistance. Yours is a common question/issue and the are advantages + disadvantages to changing your residence.

If he is just stationed there but doesn't live there, it doesn't make him a resident. If you all have a place to live there and your children go to school there, you are a resident. And yes, you do need to change your license to California. You have to update your address within 30 days where ever you move. If you don't and you get pulled over, the police officer will site you for that.

At the college level you must live in a state for at least a year, before the school will allow you in state tuition. Yes when you move you will need to change over your driver's license and car insurance ASAP.
