What is the best resort in Lake Tahoe for snowboarding?

Planing to goto South Lake tahoe this weekend on Jan 28th or Jan 29th 2012?

• Hi all, This is the first time we are going to lake tahoe. Me and My friends are planning to goto South Lake Tahoe this weekend on Jan 28th or Jan 29th 2012. I looked at the weather its 52 degrees and sunny. Is there a snow still in Lake Tahoe? Is is worth going on this weekend or should we drop off ? we are planning to stay there for only one day and we are interested in ski, snowboarding and views of mountains and lakes obviously taking pictures lol. Can you guys please tell me the activities over there ( If we can cover in a day including snowboarding ) and the best resort ( They are few i know Heavenly,Alpine Meadows Ski Resort, Sierra-at-Tahoe Ski Resort, Northstar California and few . We want to rent the skis & Boards. Which is the best one to rent? Thank you all,

  Living in North Tahoe I can assure you there is plenty snow. We just got over a 5 day storm and most resorts got up to 2-4 feet in snow.. FINALLY! If you aren't skiing/snowboarding... There is a ton of gambling on the Nevada side in South Tahoe... Drive to Emerald Bay and hike down to vikingsholm... Enjoy some of the world famous restaurants.. I would recommend Heavenly out of all the resorts in South Tahoe.. A personal favorite, but definitely on the pricey side. If you don't want to spend a lot of money try Sierra at Tahoe.. Alpine Meadows, Northstar and all of Tahoe's other resorts are about an hour away from South Lake Tahoe.. I hope you guys are bringing a ton of money if you are planning renting equipment as well.. Tahoe is a resort/tourist town and nothing is cheap! Especially when it comes to skiing/snowboarding.. If you want to know what to rent as far as skis or a snowboard.. Well that is totally up to you.. They really are two completely different sports...
