Best way to have fun in Los Angeles?

Good/fun stops between Sacramento and Los Angeles?

  • My b/f and I are driving to Los Angeles (Burbank) from Sacramento on Friday for an event on Saturday afternoon, then driving back. We don't want to do the whole drive on Saturday, so we are going to split it up, driving about 3-4 hours each on Saturday/Sunday. So we need to stay over somewhere Saturday night. The problem is although I know Sacramento and LA well, I don't know much about what is in between. Does anyone have any good stops that are "around" the half way point (doesn't have to be exact obviously). It would be nice to have something fun to do Sunday morning/early afternoon before leaving on the road again. Maybe any caves to explore or good hikes or ??? Hopefully making the trip a little more worthwhile. Thanks!

  • Answer:

Depending on how you drive. You will be in Fresno in 2.5 hours. Bakersfield in 3 or 3.5. Through the Grapevine in 3.5 -4. Vallejo in 4.5 hours. Meaning you will be in Burbank in 5 to 7.5 depending on traffic. Take the 99 if you want to get there or get home. Scenic route is the 5. There is a nice lake in the Castatic Mountains (Grapevine) if you want to stop by. Sacramento - Bakersfield is nothing but Agriculture. Vallejo has Magic Mountain which is fun to do for young couples. If your in Burbank take the extra 30 min drive and head into Hollywood or downtown Pasadena. Have fun. I do the trip at least 5 - 6 times a year.
