How to gain CA Residency Status?

Can i move back and will i still have residency status.?

• Hi, i lived in utah for over a year in a house and became a resident but then my family wanted to move to another state in Rhode island. We moved there but now after two months living in an apartment we decided this state wasn't for us and we are deciding to move back except we're not sure if our residency status has disappeared because of moving and living in another state for two months. My question is can we move back and still have our residency status in the state of Utah knowing we have lived in another state for two months? Best answer gets 10 points, thanks.

  Each state sets their own residency rules. Residency rules vary depending on what activity you are attempting to do which relies on residency requirements. I'm a little curious about why you have a major concern about residency. Very few programs are affected much by the status. If you are going to school, there is often a large difference in tuition for resident and non resident students. Check the attached link for residency requirements for schools. Hunting and fishing licenses may also have the issue, but most seasons are already closed and you would probably re-qualify as a resident before they open again. Drivers license application is immediate. In fact most of the proof of residency there such as utility bill or credit card bill with Utah address must be less than 60 days old. If you want to file for divorce in Utah, you must prove you have both lived there for 3 months. To vote you need a drivers license or ID, so again, almost no time at all.
