What is the future of the librarianship in the USA?

• UNFORTUNATELY i'm a librarianship in Egypt :-) here in egypt, our professors keep telling us that in USA there 's a great respect to the library & information science.. so i wanna know if it is true or not

  Yes, library and information sciences are rapidly growing fields, and it's possible to find a very good job within them. They're also gaining a lot of academic credibility -- in other words, many library positions are seen as scholarly and administrative rather than just the latter, and therefore have greater status than they used to. If you want to be successful, though, you have to be good at changing really quickly because libraries and information systems are rapidly moving into electronic media. Some Library Science degree programs have been slow to catch on, and they don't prepare their graduates very well for the job market. But many are keeping up very well.
