What is the '10 must visit' places in Pennsylvania?

What are the 10 best places to visit in America on a road trip?

  • I'm from the US and have seen some neat things on my various road trips. I can't find any quality lists of places to visit in the US. I need help--I figure if I get 5-10 places from a bunch of people I'll have a nice grouping. I need more than just cities (although cities are welcome), but specifics are better. Help make my cross country road trip more enjoyable!

  • Answer:

New England: Salem, MA. Where the witchcraft madness in America started. It's awesome Northeast: Niagra Falls, NY. It's cliche, I know. But it's pretty cool. (Better on the Canadian side, though) South/South west: San Antonio, TX. It's practically the only decent place in Texas. Riverwalk is great. Midwest: Abeline, KS. (sp?) The controversial Greyhound Hall of fame, Old Abilene, the old house tour. Pretty cool because it's really small. West: Coastal Oregon. Beautiful, temperate weather, and great place for scenic photography.

Rock City, a couple hours from Atlanta Georgia is a really neat stop. My family went there once on our way to Florida. It was definetly worth the stop, and I highly recomend it. The Gateway Arch, in St. Louis Missouri is another place well worth visiting. I'm heading back there this summer. You can get a ride all the way up to the top, and then look out and take photos from the top. The headwaters of the Mississippi River, located near Itasca State Park in Minnesota is really an amazing sight, especially if you're from down south. Up in Itasca, the Mighty Mississippi is only a couple inches wide. This stop might be kind of out of your way, since it's in northern Minnesota, but I really recomend it.
