Has anyone been on a Contiki tour?

• I was thinking about going on one of the Contiki tours. I don't know anyone who has been on one. But I picked up a book from the travel agent. I am 23 from Australia. I don't drink or gamble. How much money would I need to take as spending money? Are the tours worth it if it's your first time overseas?

  I did! In 2001, I studied abroad in Australia and took a 2 week Contiki tour of New Zealand. It was one of the best times of my life- so much fun! It's great because I was traveling alone, but when you go on a tour for 18-35's, you meet other people to do stuff with. The tour guide I had was great, they make sure you see all the main sights, and they're very accommodating. I had medicine i needed refrigerated, and they made sure it always was, and kept track of everything well. There were a lot of people that drank on the tour, because it's mostly young people, but you don't have to. there were others who didn't and they still had fun. How much $ should you bring? It depends how long you'll be there and how many "extra's" you want to do. They offer extra excursions, which are definitely worth the money- like hang gliding and bungee jumping and wine tasting and horseback riding, stuff like that. If you want to do them all, you should bring 2,000 dollars or so. If you don't want to do any excursions, maybe $800 for a few weeks, because you still have to pay for most meals. (all lunches, and some dinners) breakfast is always included. have fun! they're a great tour company!
