I'm headed there next week with just me and my three little kids. I'm just trying to plan what to do. Any suggestions?

You've got to visit the temple while there. It's a gorgeous structure and a lot of history behind it. Sorry can't recommend any vittles vendors. I haven't been there in MANY years.

Pizza/Pasta Factory @ Ancestor Square is really good. Pirate Island Pizza has great atmosphere and will be fun for kids, but I don't know how great their food is. I went right after they first opened earlier this year and they were still working out lots of kinks. Orange Peel is this incredible smoothie place that's only in St. George. There's one on River Road by TJMaxx or another at Fabulous Freddy's on Bluff St. I agree, you MUST go to Nielson's and get some frozen custard. That stuff is just about as life-changing as frozen confections can get. It's on the Boulevard by Cafe Rio. 25Main (at 25 Main St.) has the cutest and most delicious cupcakes around. I don't like the food as much as I like the cupcakes, but then again, everything pales next to them. Judd's country store on Tabernacle just west of Main St. has really, really good soup & breadsticks, and also has fun old-fashioned candy and sodas. Grun is a fun store also on Main St. by 25Main. They have all sorts of goofy dodads. I'll think of some more things to add later. Probably after I eat so I can think of something other than restaurants. Go up to the Dixie Rock area (up on Skyline drive above downtown) in the evening and go on a hike or climb up on the rock and look out on the city. Snow Canyon State Park is really beautiful and has both long & short hikes to choose from. I'm not sure if Tuacahn has any shows going on next week (and if there are, I don't know if there are any tickets left), but if you get the chance, head out there. It's also right by Snow Canyon State Park. Technically in Ivins, but it's not so far out of your way that if you go to the park and Tuacahn it won't be a waste of your time. There's good historical places in downtown St. George: the Brigham Young Home, the Temple. Out in Santa Clara (about ten or fifteen minutes to the west of downtown St. George) there's the Jacob Hamblin home. There's a lot of really nice parks in town, too. I like Vernon Worthern in downtown St. George (it's near the temple and is across the street from the Rec Center, too); Mathis Park in Green Valley, and lots of others. There's a new acquatic center in Washington to the east of St. George, I think. I heard it's pretty sweet.

It might be a too cold, but I love Nielsen's Frozen Custard. It's on the boulavard nest to Cafe Rio. Great stuff.

Some great places to go hiking and horseback riding outside of town. Also, about a half hour south across the Nevada border are some big casinos. Maybe there is a show you all could catch. Trivia: St George is where they did a lot of nuclear testing underground about 50 years ago.

Can't help you with that, but I can make at least one recommendation. If there is still a place open called Steve's Tire Store, which is/or was on one of the main roads...keep away from it. Don't stop for gas...don't stop for help or go to the bathroom...don't stop there for nothing...go anywhere else possible. I've been in the RV rental business since 1981 (was in California for 4 of those years) and have had more rip-offs by that company than almost the entire rest of the country combined! And, several members of our Rental 20-Group have had similar experiences.

it's been a while since I've been there - and I'm not sure how little kids are, but Tom's Deli used to be really great for a sandwich - but it's been a while 175 West 900 South Suite 2 there a place on west main that had vines all over the building that was good - cannot remember the name Rickshaw on sunset too and little ceasars on 7th e and 7th s ---- oh! and blue bunny ice cream parlor sites - as mentioned temple, zions, the dino museum, the fiesta center could be kind of fun, skywalker does balloon flights, animal safaris (buffalo, mountain lions, deer, elk).....it'll be fun just to go and be with your kids.

Pancho & Lefty's Mexican Restaurant is my favorite [I've also run into Elder Holland there]. [Pizza/Pasta factory is good - but you can find it in provo too]. Favorite places to go: Brigham Young home, Jacob Hamblin home, Opera House... there are also lots of great parks and trails [my favorite is the Chuckawalla trail] with the Tortoise preserve just north of town, there are lots of places to hike that are easy for little ones. If the cold fronts move out, the temp should quickly get back into the 70s during the day.
