Nikky the only way to keep it cheap is to do it yourself. I would suggest calling the moving company and asking for a quote to find out for sure though. Good luck

definitely a moving company. it's what we did when we moved from ny to cali. if you have a lot of stuff, a moving company would be easier and less stress. uhauls are good for close-ish moves, not cross country.

First thing to do is open up your local Yellow Pages and have two local movers for the major van lines come and do a free in house estimate. They will walk through your house and check off on an inventory everything you want to move. Ask for a copy when they are done. Compare the two lists to be sure everything is covered you want to move. They will estimate the weight and volume of your shipment and give you a price for shipping the goods for you. Then you will have a budget for using a moving company handling the move for you. Check out http://www.protectyourmove.gov/ and read how to protect yourself when moving! Then you can check additional options like the PODS, and many other like carriers. I would also suggest you look into www.upack.com and their rates for Relocubes, small trailer like containers they bring to your home and drop in your driveway and you fill up. They are smaller than POD in cased you do not have enough stuff to fill a POD. There are other options like www.broadwayespress.net where they bring a moving van to your home and you load it yourself and you pay by the foot you use in the trailer. The trailers has all the equipment you need to move your stuff and wrapping it up to protect it. Some of the major van lines also have this time of service. What you do not do is look for a rate from this online quote sites on the find-a-mover websites. They can be trouble. Once you make a final decision on your budget with these types of move then look at moving yourself. Stay away from UHAUL go with someone like Budget or Penske Before agreeing to use any moving service take the additional time to do a Yahoo Search on the company to see if there are any comments about them.

Moving companies are expensive, so it depends on how much you want to spend. It's cheaper to move your own stuff, so it really depends on how much you have. You can uhaul the basics, and have movers move your big items

depends on how much stuff you have and how much money! driving yourself can save money because moving companies go by the weight of the items you're moving and how far they're going. If you don't weigh your items ahead of time and have an agreed upon weight before they take everything, then they will weigh the truck at a weigh station (probably when you're not around) and then you can get stuck with a hefty amount to pay before you get your belongings! but keep in mind, if you load up and haul everything yourself, to have plenty of help and someone to ride along with you. You'll need someone to help you backup where ever you stop especially if you have a car on the back too., take over driving when you get tired. Help unload once you get where you're going. You might need a carload of friends to follow in your car, make a fun trip out of it. They can fly back home, or get a rental car. There is also that POD delivery system whee they bring a POD container, you load it up, they take it to your destination and you unload it and they pickup the container when you're done. Then you can just drive your car to Colorado. Sounds like less hassle of the 3 to me. http://www.pods.com/moving.aspx

A U-haul is cheaper, just more work. If the work doesn't bother you, go the U-haul route. I did the same thing as you, pulled my car behind it. I hired a friend to drive my other car up, afterwards. I went down and he drove my car and I rode my Harley. Hazards of having too much of a good thing, I guess.

a u haul is not a bad way to go, but the best way to go is to have a yard sale and get your stuff to fit in your best friends truck, and offer to just pay for gas. having said that, you will be much closer to me, i'm in utah, are you moving to be closer to your broncos
