Hi, I've been in a trip to US in November till January last year and I can ensure you that the best place to be in the period you've mentioned (late November) is Las Vegas. The colors, the view, the casinos - Wow! If you want the best entertainment this is the place for you. I'm positive that even if you don't like to gamble you'll find a lot of other stuff to do there. I'll be in Las Vegas in the beginning of February so I can show you around. I know good places :-). If you want to know more about Las vegas and what there is to do in this wonderful place enter http://www.777.com/land-based-casinos/las-vegas Youll find there an interesting review and even some nice video clips. Here is another interesting article about Las Vegas: http://www.777.com/articles/las-vegas-after-september-11th One more useful article about planning a trip to Vegas: http://www.wikihow.com/Plan-A-Trip-to-Las-Vegas If you want more information about this place please feel free to contact me and I'll be happy to assist. First off, where are you now? Another question: is there any place you would to go but haven't because it would be too hot in summer and too expensive in winter? If you can find a place that's off-season at the moment, that would be a good bet. Less of a crowd and less $'s. I'd suggest, like some others, staying more towards the southern U.S. to avoid problems with possible early winter weather, unless you don't normally get to experience snow and wouldn't mind encountering some.

Southern California often has nice weather in late November. We have played volleyball in shorts on Thanksgiving day on a few occasions. Rain is a possibility but usually the days are warm, but the evenings can be chilly. Oh and Eskie Lover - don't call it Santa Babs - you definitely sound non-local (I live near Solvang). But I agree, a great time to visit this area.

California! The weather is mild, the tourist traffic is lower, there are lots of exciting things to do even off of the beaten path and everything is decorated for the holidays. If you go somewhere like Big Bear Lake there is even skiing by then. If you go between just above Santa Babs, there is Solvang, wine tasting, and you still aren't far from everything in the city. And you can day trip to San Simeon which is especially beautiful during the holidays. My other suggestion, Asheville NC to Biltmore Castle. It is a wonderful little city and the mansion is just awesome.

Do Something Different!!! My thoughts as a native St. Louisian.... St. Louis, Missouri is a great place to visit in November. I agree that California offers a lot of mild weather alternatives to, otherwise touristy crowded locations. You'll find the state parks and campground less crowded and beaches pristine and beautiful. Picturesque locations such as San Francisco and Carmel are comfortable and roomy without the crush of out of town visitors. Fall season is the ideal time to visit desert wilderness areas like Death Valley National Monument because the temperatures drop to comfortable levels, and, what little rain does fall, brings out the rare, bright desert blooms. Up in the Sierra Nevada mountains, skiing season should be open, so, if that is your interest, the resorts are strung most of the entire length of the state. I highly recommend the resorts at or near Lake Taho, as much as for the scenery as for great winter sports conditions. The winter surf along California's North Coast is some of the most spectacular in the lower 48, with popular spots like Santa Cruz's Steamers Lane, and Half Moon Bay's Maverick's beaches sporting 20 to 30 foot waves. (be sure to bring a wet suit because the water is danged cold!)
