What are some fun birthday party places?

Are there any fun places in the Washington, D.C. area to have a kid birthday party?

  • My Son is turning 8 next month. I really want to have a fun party. Are there any cool places near by that you can suggest?

  • Answer:

the Spy Museum may be a little old for an 8 year old. That is really the bottom of the age range for that. The Aquarium is a good one - I mean the one IN Washington, which is rather small, not the one in Baltimore. They definitely do birthday parties. If there is a kids' show at either the Discovery Theatre or the Kennedy Center you could take the kids there - that would be very cool if a little expensive. Of course Six Flag in Maryland (theme park) and the Water Park in Fairfax do kids parties as do some of the rec centers in the area. For example the Oak Marr rec center out in Fairfax does parties with minature golf. Hope that helps.

It's very expensive, but what about the Spy Museum? The National Aquarium might be good as well (and probably A LOT cheaper). Also, some of the bakeries do parties. This might be to "girly" for 8 year old boys. Just Cakes in Bethesda does it, but again it can get pricey. If cakes are not your son's forte, what about animals? Discovery Creek does parties (http://www.discoverycreek.org/activities/birthday.php)
