How far is it to drive from Washington, DC to UNC Chapel Hill?
-
I'm going to Washington DC to look at colleges and I was hoping to visit the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill as well. Does anyone know how far it is to drive?

Answer:
If you go on a weekend when there's not a lot of traffic on I-95 in DC, Richmond, etc., you're looking at roughly five hours. Of course, if you travel during the week, all bets are off due to traffic.

It appears that the trip is roughly four and a half hours, with Google sending you through down I-95 to Richmond, and then I-85 the rest of the way.

I've driven (well, had someone drive me) to NC from DC a couple of times, and my recollection is it's roughly five hours from DC to the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill area.
