Where can you rent a smart car in Philadelphia,PA?

I need a car rental place in DC that will rent to an 18 year old?

  • my general plan is to catch a train to dc to visit my buddy who's going to school there, and rent a car there since i don't have a car of my own and neither does he, and walking around all weekend having fun doesn't sound as epic as driving around having fun. problem is, no car rental place i can find will rent to anyone under 21, and we're both 18. we both have really good driving records, i've only been in 1 minor fender bender due to a mechanical problem with the car, and the worst he's ever done is once he knocked over a mailbox while parallel parking. so does anyone know a car rental place in dc who'll rent to one of us? price isn't a problem as long as it's not a completely insane amount. ideally i'd like to get some place that's either near or will drop the car off at union station in dc. i only need the car for a day or two.

    Dude, I am 49 years old and I HATE to drive around the Metropolican Washington DC area. Do yourself a favor and don't rent a car - use the Metro (subway system) or buses instead. What's more fun? Sitting in bumper to bumper traffic or getting drunk, visiting strip clubs and riding the DC Metro system with your buddy? I know what I'd rather be doing!

Ask your buddy to look into the car rental agency that rents at his school. Often, schools will go to a certain car rental agency for school events. They will usually rent to students who go to that school who are over 18 for a slightly increased fee (increased insurance premium). This is especially true at medium/larger schools. Also, check out using Zipcar (Zipcar.com). You may be able to rent if you are 18, depending on which state you plan to rent in.
