  There is no Metro in Laurel, but you are right that you can take the MARC Camden line directly from Laurel to Union Station. Once at Union Station, you can pick up the Metro system's Red Line. Depending on how much travel you will be doing on Metro (not MARC), consider getting a day pass. There are no children's fares on MARC. On Metro, children 5 and older pay a full adult fare.
