What it the legal age to work in DC?

What is there for a 20yo to do in Washington DC and Baltimore?

  • I'm working as an intern @ the Capitol this summer in DC and I'm really enjoying it thus far. After a hard weeks work, I really want to go and explore the city, but not do regular tourist stuff. I'm majoring/minoring in Architecture/Landscape Design, so of course I'd like to admire the buildings. I'm 20 going on 21 and it would also be nice to hang around other people my age. And I'm staying in Columbia , MD this summer which is closer to Baltimore, and I figure I should go there one weekend as well.

Well Baltimore has great nightlife, architecture, and food. In terms of the nightlife it pretty much is focused around the Power Plant Live which is by the inner harbor. They have several clubs, pubs etc. In the summer they have a lot of outside festivals as well around the inner harbor. I would definitely check out the some of the great attractions in downtown baltimore as well. Starting with the National Aquarium which is actually in Baltimore and a cant miss, Ft Mchenry which is the fort where America defeated the British and the inspiration for the Star Spangled Banner...then maybe grab a bite to eat in Fells Point, Canton, Mt. Vernon (which has the Walter Art Gallery) and great architecture. If you into sports I would also suggest catching an orioles game at camden yard which is a great park then taking a trek up federal hill and check out the shops. Finally you should eat dinner and one of the chic restaurants in Harbor East...Flemings is pretty good. They have a really good visitor center at the Inner harbor stop there first and they will help you plan your weekend. washington dc- So much to do. I would start with breakfast in an early afternoon in Georgetown. Again, great architecture, shops and people watching. After midday I would hit up the monuments, museums etc that are along the national mall. If you are a little nightlife I would go to some clubs in either adams morgan or the k street corridor such as josephines, lotus etc. Since your under 21 it may be difficult to find some place to let you in. You may want to go to U street which is nice and has lounges that you get into.
