Do you know any good places to watch fireworks?

I am going for July 4th and want to know of any places to watch the mall fireworks wthout standing on the mall?

Who Cares

The two best places to watch the fireworks (other than on TV) are in Arlington or any buildings' roof deck in D.C. Last time I was in town for the Fourth, I was at a party in Columbia Heights. Since the land is at a higher elevation, you have a great view of all of downtown.

You can sort of see them from the Cathedral. Many people watch them from roof tops. Where is your hotel? The best place is on the top balcony from the JW Marriott. Unfortunately, you have to be a DAR because they rent it out every year.

We sometimes used to watch from around the Kennedy Center. You see people camping out on various bits of grass just off the roads right around there. I think you might even be able to get up to the rooftop area, but we never did that so I can't swear to that.
