Is a trip to Washington D.C. worth $1,218?

  • I'm in 8th grade and my history teacher told us about a trip that we were allowed to take after school in the summer. The trip costs $1,218 we go to Washington D.C. and see the Washington Monument, WW2 Memorial, Arlington National Cemetery, Iwo Jima Memorial, Pentagon Memorial, Holocaust Musuem, Vietnam Memorial, Korean Memorial, Alexandria, Mount Vernon, Smithsonian Institution, Lincoln Memorial, Jefferson Memorial, FDR Memorial, MLK Memorial, Ford's Theatre, Petersen House, Capitol Grounds Tour, White House, and the National Archives. Since we live in St. Louis, we would fly there by plane. The trip includes round trip airfare, transportation, hotel, meals, and admission fees. My best friend and one of my good friends told me to think about going. I don't really know how much trips cost and want to know if it's worth it. We stay there for three days and 2 nights. It seems it's a fun experience especially with my friends and since we've been learning about George Washington and a bunch of the first presidents, it may be cool to see it in person. I usually go to an overnight camp in the summer which costs more than the D.C. trip but it's for four weeks and I'm not doing it this year. Please tell me your opinion. I procrastinated which was a bad idea and registrations due March 15th!

    What you will do is make history come to life. This will enhance your high school classes. You said that you usually spend more than this going camping, so I would definitely recommend it. I have been stationed in Washington, DC when I was on active duty. I have lived and worked in Washington, DC. I have lived part of my retired life in Washington, DC. Go register before it is too late!

If you like American History then by all means go for it. But do keep in mind you could probably go to Mexico, California, or Florida for the same price

DC is a cool city, and I've always loved class trips. If that's a lot of money for your family, it's not like you can't gain the same knowledge from books, but if you can afford it, it would probably be fun.

WASH DC IS A MUST DESTINATION FOR ANYONE LIVING IN THE US BUT YOU CAN DO IT ANYTIME DURING YOUR LIFETIME BUT DOING IT AS A CLASS TRIP WITH SOME OF YOUR BUDS MAKES IT A LOT MORE FUN. EVERYTHING YOU MENTIONED YOU WILL SEE IS TOP NOTCH STUFF BUT ALMOST ALL OF IT IS FREE. WHAT YOU ARE PAYING FOR IS AIRFARE, MEALS, LODGING, TRANSPORTATION (BUS TO GET AROUND), AND PERSONAL STUFF LIKE SOUVENIRS. I WOULD HAVE LIKED THE TRIP BETTER IF IT WAS FOR 4 DAYS AND 3 NIGHTS BUT CONSIDERING EVERYTHING, I WOULD SAY GO FOR IT. SINCE YOU ARE GOING IN THE SUMMER, BE PREPARED FOR VERY HOT, HUMID WEATHER. WEAR EXTREMELY COMFORTABLE SNEAKERS SINCE YOU WILL BE DOING TONS OF WALKING AROUND. YOU'LL HAVE A FAB TIME, BE WITH YOUR FRIENDS, AND SEE SOME AWESOME STUFF THAT ARE FOUND NOWHERE ELSE. ENJOY
