What are the best places to go sledding?

Best places to go sledding East of Seattle?

  • I've been here for three winters so far and the only "designated" sledding I've found was a small sledding hill by Hyak at Snoqualmie Pass. We've also done a little sledding at the bottom of the hill in the Alpental area before skiing started but you're not supposed to sled there. Since I grew up in South Florida I'm like a kid in snow since the last time I lived in it I was 12. So can anyone give me some good sledding areas either out I-90 or Hwy 2 cuz once the white stuff starts falling me and my plastic sled will want to be heading there :) I don't mind paying for a SnoPark permit if it means a fun place to do some sledding (by the way, I'm in my early 40's lol)

  • Answer:

If you have a 4WD equipped vehicle, you can find a lot of trails and areas just off of I-90 just by driving around. There's a lot that will be closed up (only in so much that the bars are closed across the path preventing driving), but also many that will be driveable. You can get towed behind the vehicle which is fun, too! There's a lot of areas, though, heading east that you can find for sledding.
