Where to go camping in Washington?

Where are the best areas to go camping in Washington State?

  • Preferrably scenic spots and places that have a variety of activities. Campsites needs to have hookups and facilities for Truck Camper rigs. Thanks.

    The state of Washington has some great state parks that have some campsites with hook-ups. The hook-ups don't include sewage hook-ups at the campsite, but they have a dump station you can stop at on your way out. Some of the more popular ones take reservations. Their website and reservation system also includes some nice camping at parks owned by Tacoma Power. Some of my favorite state parks include Deception Pass, Seaquest, Steamboat Rock.

I'm most familiar with state parks near Seattle. But our family likes to camp at Alta Lake State Park when we are tired of rain on the western side of the Cascades (such as Seattle). If you're in the Seattle area there are some very scenic state parks on the Puget Sound. Some of the ones our family has visited include Illahee State Park near Bremerton and also Scenic Beach State Park. Another Seattle area state park is Fay Bainbridge on Bainbridge Island which has a big beach area with views of Mt. Rainier and Mt. Baker. If you have time to take a ferry to the San Juan Islands then I'd recommend Moran State Park -- very beautiful.
