University Dilemma...Seattle University or UW-Seattle???
-
I'm currently attending a community college in Tacoma but I can't decide if Seattle University or UW-Seattle is right for me. I am majoring in Business Administration-Accounting... I have GI Bill, retirement check every month, and I have saved up plenty of money for education expenses while I was in the Army. I'm expecting to transfer this Fall 2008 and I'm getting ready to submit my application along with my personal statement....I dont wanna go to UW-Tacoma since the school is too small and is lacking of diversity, but the quality of education is still pretty good according to my colleagues. I need help in this critical decision because I dont want to regret it. Where should I go? Seattle U or UW-Seattle..Where can I find a 1 bedroom apartment with a reasonable price like from $600-700/month?? I heard West Seattle has some good affordable apartment...I also plan to work at VA Hospital as workstudy part- time. Is Beacon Hill or Madison close?

Answer:
Business Week ranks the University of Washington's undergraduate Business school as 33rd in the nation. Seattle U's Business program is unranked. US News and World Report ranks the UW's program as 34th in the nation while Seattle U's is unranked. Amongst public universities, the UW is ranked 11th in the nation for its undergraduate school of business. It is still possible to find reasonable housing on First Hill in Seattle. From First Hill, you can travel conveniently and with very little traffic to the VA on Beacon Hill and to the U-district to attend the UW. You can bypass the freeway both by bus and by car to both places from there.

In my opinion, I think you'd be much better off at the UW than SU. UW has an excellent Business School, as well as being far cheaper than SU (being a public University). In terms of finding affordable rentals, you'd probably find cheaper rentals around Seattle University than UW, haha. There are heaps of apartments around the UW throughout the University District and you'll just need to go through the different places (physically, not just online) to find the best places for the best rates!

Definitely UW.
