How close is Seattle University to the University of Washington?

very close. by freeway 10 min taking the backroads along the freeway 12th ave and university ave about 20 min there are buses that run there that make it really easy to go back and fourth the u district is where the university is and is alive with people of all walks seattle u is in capital hill (pill hill) and has a little something for everyone. Capital hill is the redlight district and there is a large population of gays there. plus its right there in downtown seattle

You will have no problem hanging out. Yeah... you could easily hang out. It's not within walking distance but it's relatively close. They are different neigborhoods and have different cool places to go to near each as well.
