    book club? meetup.com? work friends? if you're not a native, it might not just be you, btw. it could be the "seattle freeze". i moved here almost 7 years ago from the midwest and, despite my social prowess back home, have just started really having a social life here in the last 2 years. it took way longer than i thought and 90% of the friends i've made here are fellow transplants. i also had to "kiss a lot of frogs", so to speak, in the beginning and just force myself to do stuff i wasn't really jazzed about in the hopes of eventually networking my way to friends i had more in common with. it worked. just get out there and do ANYTHING. it'll happen. http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/pacificnw/2005/0213/cover.html

Same as anywhere, go out meet people. Also the internet is a great resource for meeting people. It depends on where you are from. I moved to WA from South Carolina, and the people are different than what I am used too. I would go about it in normal fashion, which is look for groups that have common interests that you do and join the group.
