What's some fun stuff to do in Seattle?

  • 3 other guys and I are going to Seattle the end of this month, and two of them have never been there before. I know I have to take 'em on the Space Needle and to Pike place market and all the regular tourist places, but what's some other fun stuff to do? It seems like forever since I've been there just for fun. And also, is there a really cool music store...anywhere...in the entire city? Thanks.

Hmm, some fun things you might want to do are: Visit the first Starbucks (This is great if you are a coffee lover, and I belive it is near Pike Place Market.) Go downtown, where there are many shopping malls, and many other fun activites. There are many shopping malls and recrational things to do, depending on your intrests, but you can look up on Google some things that you and your friends like to do. For example, if you like to go fishing then type in "Fishing in Seattle." If you are also looking for resurants around Seattle, then I reccomend: Ivar's. Ivar's is a resturant that has great seafood, and clam chouder. There are many Ivar's resturants scattered around Washington State. PS. Ivar's is very cheap, so if your on a budget, this is a great place to go to. Space Needle. Yes, The Space Needle is also a resurant. Thay are known to have wonderful food, but it is also a little on the expensive side. Daniel's Broiler. This is a wonderful steakhouse that has average prices, but great food.

For a different scene and more off the beaten path stuff: 1) ride the ferry to Bainbridge and get brunch 2) visit Bruce and Brandon Lee's graves at Lakeview Cemetery 3) feed the seagulls at Ivar's 4) go to an oxygen bar in Capitol Hill @ 401 Broadway 5) Seafair, Hempfest, and Bite of Seattle are at the end of the month 6) do the chocolate factory tour at Theo Chocolate in Fremont 7) eat ice cream and people watch at the crackhead park outside of Pike Place 8) Silver Platters on Roy and 5th is probably the biggest local music store or check out Easy Street Records in Queen Anne 9) Hit on chicks at Greenlake 10) Visit Jimmy Hendrix's grave at Greenwood Memorial Cemetary in Renton 11) go to a LasarNirvana or LasarZepplin show at the science center 12) check out the sheetmusic collection at the downtown public libaray and make tons of photocopes 13) screw the long lines at the space needle and go to the observation deck at the Columbia Tower (it's taller anyway) 14) walk or bike on the trail/sidewalk across the I-90 floating bridge to Mercer Island 15) get a beer at Norms in Fremont and admire all the dogs

-Go up in the Space Needle. -Go to the Pacific Science Center. -Visit the Experienced Music Project. -See the Pike Place Market. -I know you said that you want a place besides Starbucks, but the first ever Starbucks is actually in the Pike Place Market. -See a Mariner's game, they'll be there the whole week you are. -In Des Moines, a town several miles south of Seattle, you can see the Walgreen's which now stands where the "Spanish Castle" from Jimi Hendrix's song was. -August 1-3, is Seafair weekend, and there will be Hydroplane racing on Lake Washington, with a Blue Angels fly-over. -Tour the Everett Boeing plant. I've done that once, and it's huge. -See the Ye Olde Curiosity Shop, you HAVE to go there while you're here. -Take a Argosy cruise/tour boat around Lake Washington and through the Locks. -See the Museum of Flight.

Although there is a lot of things to do in Downtown as you can see what the other yahoo members suggested, don't forget to enjoy the state parks, water, trees, the hikes alone are a blast. out of all the things that i did when i first got here, it was that memory that i will take with me. .It was blast. Hope you have fun....

The Experience Music Project (EMP) is a must see, it is an interactive museum about music, and has a VERY good collection, and yes there are a ton of music stores though one specific one does not come to mind at the moment.
