Auburn, Enumclaw (country-ish / farm land), Maple Valley, Tacoma (smaller than Seattle, but you still get all the amenities of being able to walk places or take public transportation), Lacey, Dupont, Olympia, Sumner, Bothell, Edmonds, Kirkland, etc. You can find quiet areas in all those above cities and more... it depends if you want to live north, south, east or west of Seattle :)

You'll need more info in your question: big city or small village or suburbs; island or mountains; ocean or desert or forest.... There's something for everyone here.

I would honestly recommend Seattle. It really does have a small-town feel to it. Granted if you lived in the heart of downtown it would feel like crazy city life. But I live in North Seattle, and we still have block parties and it's a very safe, comforting, beautiful place. Not to be insulting, but with maybe the exception if Gig Harbor (very nice little village-y type town on the water) and maybe Olympia, every other city is upper-lower class. It's either Seattle, or it's farm town/trashy-ville/ghetto. My friend lives 20 mins north of me in a city called Everett, and he feels totally isolated and out of touch. If you are coming here to have your own little sanctuary, but without being too far from civilization, I would recommend looking into living on one of the islands! They are charming, gorgeous and an eclectic choice :) Hope I helped!

I went to Washington like 3 weeks ago. If you want to be away from people and be safe then live on Whidbey Island. Its a small island thats part of Washington and is like 15 mins away from washington if u take a boat.
