How is the job market in San Francisco (Bay Area) right now?

  • I am in the Pharmaceutical industry and would like to know how the job market is right now in San Francisco and the Bay Area. I know that the economy is bad right now but I'd like to know how this particular sector is doing as far as employment opportunities go. Can anyone tell me how the job market is right now?

When I was browsing for a job I only saw a few Pharm type jobs. Most of the jobs you're going to find in the city are IT, networking, financial, legal. If you have a degree you have a much better shot at securing employment. I would just check CL and Monster if I were you. No one individual will be able to answer this for you. Good luck.

If you have referral, it is OK, otherwise, most resumes go no answer. New Jersey is No 1 choose for pharmaceutical. The biggest biotech company in US is Genentech in south SF, total 3000 employees, it fires 150 people and hires another 150 people every year, it receives 10000 resumes every year, so just get figure.
