What's the best way to visit the golden gate bridge without driving?

  • I took the BART and the Muni took me to Golden Gate Park.... Does the Muni take to to the Golden Gate Bridge too or do I have to take some other mode of transportation (besides car of course)?

    Yes, there are Muni and Golden Gate Transit buses. ----- Muni buses 28, 29, and 76 all stop at the Golden Gate Bridge Toll Plaza. You can catch the 28 from the Daly City BART station; the 29 from the Balboa Park BART station; and the 76 from the Montgomery Street BART station. Though the 76 only runs on weekends and holidays. ----- You can also use any of the Golden Gate Transit buses - including 10, 70, 80, and 101 - heading for Marin County. You can catch any Golden Gate Transit bus from the Civic Center BART station or Mission Street in Downtown San Francisco.

There are trolley tours for tourists that leave from Fishermans Wharf. They'll take you to all of the sights that are a pain without a car (Coit Tower, the Presidio, Lombard St, etc) in an hour or two. You'll get great views of the bridge. They're fairly cheap. $20-ish.
