Does anyone know any cheap apartments off of UNF's Campus?

Anyone know which apartment to choose near USF?

  • Hi everyone, I would like to express my gratitude to the people who answered my previous question regarding the apartments in the bay Area. It turns out that I have to find an apartment near university of san francisco USF. Can anyone suggest me the names of apartments near USF? My budget for the apartment would be $1300-$1600. I really hope that there is an apartment near campus which is close to groceries, fastfoods(Mcdonald's, burger king, etc.) and most importantly public transportation (since I will be travelling to downtown every friday). Someone previously suggested me to find apartments in laurel hts, presidio, panhandle and inner richmond since these neighborhoods are close to USF. I would like to know if such neighborhoods are safe and if they are close to fastfoods and groceries. I hope you can provide me with your opinion on such matters. Thank you very much in advance for your help!

You seem to want high rises with names but most apartments in neighborhoods are flats, duplexes, or smaller buildings which dont have names. San Francisco is mostly an older city that does not change much. I dont know how you would locate high rise apartment buildings unless you contact a rental agent or property management company in the area. Most S.F. neighborhoods are safe as I said earlier. There are no ghettoes or street gangs like many big cities in the East or even parts of Los Angeles. San Francisco is very unique. It is a small city. You may not have any parking with your apartment so don't bring a car. Plenty of buses and other transit available. You can walk to the school from these neighborhoods. Haight & Stanyan, Cole Valley, Ashbury Heights, Alamo Square, Laurel Heights, Lone Mountain, the Panhandle, Laurel Heights, Presidio Heights, as I said earlier are all neighborhoods. They have mostly corner grocery stores like Manhattan. There are big supermarkets on Geary Blvd and Haight or Masonic. Check the maps for the services you want nearest to the school and you can come up with a convenient neighborhood.

Laurel Heights, Presidio, Inner Richmond are good neighborhoods. Panhandle (it depends where in the Panhandle) could be a good neighborhood if you don't mind some homeless street persons who hang around or live in the nearby park areas. That's an interesting neighborhood, more trendy, with a different flavor because of the Haight Ashbury influence. It's not too far from UCSF medical center & Golden Gate Park. You'd probably like it there as well. The Richmond District (Clement St. between Arguello and 11th Ave and Geary near USF and out toward 20th Ave) has many eating places and you will find laundromats. Laurel Heights and the Presidio area are adjacent. These areas are quiet residential. Many families live there. The #38 Geary bus will take you directly downtown. That's my favorite line. Number 1 California goes to Chinatown and the Financial District.
