Sketches and paintings of San Francisco?

  • In what parts of SF do local artists display their works in parks/sidewalks etc. during the week? I hope to find art depicting (in the past or present) Pier 39, Union Square or Chinatown. If the artwork is already mounted on a piece of slate or wood, all the better. Are there any streets that are filled with stores selling the work of local artists, whose subject is scenes of San Francisco? Many thanx-

    Farley's Coffee on Potrero Hill displays and sells local artists works. There is also a framing shop on Union Street called Artisan's of San Francisco that sells a local artists works of S.F. I think "these" types of places may be your best bet in finding local artists selling their impressions of S.F.

Sure. Pier 39 and all along the waterfront there, you will find street artists, lots of shops, and other entertainment. Another place to check, on the weekends, is the sidewalk in front of the Cliff House above Ocean Beach. I have bought many a watercolor of San Francisco scenes there for very reasonable prices.
